They also cover a lot of fashion and celebrity news giving news on what clothes they are wearing and what they are up to. In terms of the way the website is laid out you have the traditional daily mail logo at the top but the rest of the website feels like a proper website with loads of different articles spread along the middle of the site. On the side of the website their is a section that has articles for celebrity,fashion and news stories. Just below the logo is a links block that you can click to choose what news topic you want. The websites colours is white, black and blue the background is dominated by white to represent the seriousness of the companies typical news story the blue represents the links you click to the articles and the black is the colour of the text. The titles are all big and bold while the text is small and lower case. The articles all mostly have images above them that are actually different to the ones you would see on the news paper as it is their way of separating the 2. The links the website uses will take you to the various different topics and the news stories themselves. The website is promoted mainly on television as whenever their is a newspaper ad from the daily mail they will always end with visit mail online, the other main way is through social media mostly from twitter through each tweet they leave a link that will take you to the mail online website. The website often promotes gifts and special endorsements that you can only get by buying the newspaper and taking the vouchers from it. The news story blocks have been broken down into multiple different sections including the opinion section, Headlines section, sport, around the uk and around the world. The main colour scheme for the website is blue and white with the overall colour being blue and the background white. The text colour is blue and black giving a overall formal feel. The website is promoted through television and online to attract audiences and potential new regulars. The website often promotes gifts and special offers if you sign up on there website and also for getting there newspaper. They regularly use twitter to promote the guardian.
The new York Times: The New York Times website is the most unique out of the 3 newspaper websites for a variety of reasons. Just like the other 2 websites the lay out is similar in that the newspaper name is at the top and there is a bar below with all the different topics covered. The most recent news stories are all shown available below as well just like the other papers. What stands this apart from the other 2 is first of all the amount of adverts used there is many more adverts popping up on the website than there is the other 2 there is 2 adverts either side of the top and then there is more adverts as you scroll down the website. Also the colour scheme is completely black and white to give a similar feel to that of the official newspaper they sell. To bring even further similarities to there paper they even have laid out the news stories and the shape of the articles blocks to fit that of how there newspaper is laid out. Another unique area is the way certain areas are worded they are worded in a informal way with slang used throughout to give a more casual and relaxed feeling. There is a section called NY times video that allows you to watch there video of the day which could be a interview or news story also there is inside NY times which covers books,opinion and a Sunday book review. The website is promoted heavily on twitter and various other websites online as well as news shows like the BBC news. There doesn't seem to be too many benefits to buying the paper as the new York times these days makes there best business digitally on there website.
