Viral Marketing Plan final Plans

                                                                          Posters

As part of my marketing plan i completed 2 posters covering 2 different sets of posters. The first poster i created covers the protagonists of the series and giving insight into what is new. The second poster showcases the antagonists of the series and gives brief information on what to expect.

As seen below i also turned both posters into billboards through the website Make Sweet.

http://masseffectremastered.weebly.com/

To end the viral marketing campaign i created a website on Weebly.com. On the Website i added a background of Mass Effect and a synopsis of the trilogy. I also added one of my posters.

Audience research6.

1.     Rajar: Radio Joint Audience Research

      BARB: Broadcasters Audience Research Board

2. Rajar is joint owned by the BBC and the Radio-centre while BARB is jointly owned and funded by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, SKY and the institute of practitioners in advertising.

3. BARBTo give customers a well trusted measurement of viewing programming and commercial content.
Rajar: To create a single measurement system for the UK radio industry to work out there figures.

4. Rajar uses quarterly and weekly average listening figures, surveys, most popular market trends, volumes of average listeners and locations of the average listeners. The Barb looks at average viewers for Tv,On demand. Also they look at the average trends such as the average genre, channel and annual viewing report. There is also a regular report on average tv viewing figures for the week.

5. There work is very relevant because from studying these figures the corporations such as BBC can work out what the audiences on average want the most this allows them to understand what there main focus should be on and what they should be putting there funding towards mainly.

6. They help the consumers because of one it means that it can help them understand what they should be watching because of average viewing figures. If a series is popular then maybe that should be the show they watch.

7. Barb: Do qualitative research looking for specific areas to appeal to specific audiences. Rajar are qualitative covering as much as possible to appeal to as many as possible.

8. Gathering information about target markets and customers

9. To find out what they want the most and if there product can appeal to the audiences.

10. Opinions on products, How much is sold, Average figures, Yearly figures, What customers want most.

11. When working in Robert Dyas we worked out via surveys and sales figures what the most popular product was over the christmas season.

12. Production research allows you to plan out your production process for a video game or a movie. Allows you to know things like budgets and what the idea will be.

13. What you want to do for your game and if the idea is possible or not.

viral marketing task 2

Idea: Mass Effect The Remastered Trilogy

Tag line: Space your journey

I will be coming up with a viral marketing campaign that will help to promote the franchise Mass Effect. The main campaign elements i will be covering are viral video, posters, flyers, social media elements, collectibles,ARG  games, and merchandise ideas.

Viral Video: The video will begin with the people on the citadel and a group of other planets all doing there daily routine. This is shown through a montage switching back and forth for about 1 minute. The voiceover who speaks throughout the video is a news reporter and says "Good morning what a lovely day in the galaxy today i hope everyone is doing swell". All of a sudden reapers which are the main antagonists of the trilogy of games attack the planets shown and the citadel. The montage continues this time showing all the people shown acting calmly enjoying there day in massive panic trying to either get away or fight. The voiceover then begins to panic himself telling everyone to get somewhere safe. All of a sudden the specific characters from each area are saved by individual characters from the main group of characters The citadel is Ashley Williams, Palavin is Garrus and finally the video ends with Shepard jumping to the scene on Earth saving a group of civilians. The final shot of the video is of Shepard posing to the camera with reapers attacking and Earth in flames. Finally the mass effect logo pops up with a release date below and the tag line Space your journey. In the top corner will be a promotion trying to persuade the viewer to pre order and showing what you will get if you pre order.

Collectibles: The plan is to realise 2 different types of collectibles theres common which will come with gaming magazines and in toy stores. The gaming magazine collectibles will be either a small action figure or a plastic model of a ship. In toy stores there will be ships, action figures as well as models of the citadel and various other famous aspects of mass effect. The other type is the rare collectible which is limited edition and expensive. Some can be won if you win a competition which will consist of answering a question and if you get it right you will be added to a group of other fans who got the question correct the winner will get the limited edition collectible while the others will get a consolation prize which will be a set of common collectibles. Another way to get the rare collectibles is to pre order and purchase the special editions of Mass Effect Remastered. the 3rd and final way is to purchase online on the EA store but there is only a limited amount.

Merchandise ideas: For merchandise i would like to cover a lot of different areas such as toys, models, phone cases, clothing and gifts. All will be sold in game shops, toy shops, big chain stores and phone shops.

Tie ins: Mass Effect remastered is advertised by Nasa where they will help promote the product. Also specific locations such as the space centre in Orlando will also assist to advertise and partner the game.

Posters: There will be 2 different posters made to advertise different aspects of the game one will be the main protagonists and the other poster will be devoted to the antagonists.

Arg games: There will be 2 companion games released to tease the game. One will be a mobile game that will involve defending a human settlement from the antagonistic races of the game. This will be a RTS style game that will involve strategy and planning much like games such as Total War Empire. The second game will be a Facebook quiz game that will begin as a project called Bioware it is a quiz game asking questions about previous Bioware games and at the end of the quiz will be a link. This link will take you to the mass effect remastered trilogy website announcing the game.

Social media elements: Throughout development developers and various gaming websites will promote the game and the franchise. Also Facebook and twitter will add posters and developer comments regularly. Youtube will add trailers every few months which will also be added to Facebook and twitter.

inspiring artists

                                                                Sir Peter Blake

Peter graduated from the royal college of art in 1956 having also completed his national service. He received the levehulme research award ti study popular art whilst travelling around Europe. As well as working and exhibiting his art work he has also spent several years teaching in various London art schools. He has been doing one man shows since the 70s exhibiting his art work. In 2002 Peter Blake received a knighthood. Sir Peter Blake's work has been heavily influenced by popular culture and what is going on in the world at the time of the art being made. Film,TV,Radio and Music are his main inspirations behind his art work. The most common thing about Peter Blake's work is that they are dominated by bright colours every single part is filled by a bright eye catching colour. Also there is no empty spaces either everything is taken up either by a colour or a design or logo. I love Sir Peter Blake's work because it is fun, crazy and beautiful. I really like how the work he does is effected by what is going on in the world at the time. When i look at his work it makes me smile as even if the theme isn't always positive the colours manage to add a sense of beauty to the art work.

This image is a example of Peter Blake work as you can see it is very typical of a peter Blake art piece with a explosion of colour all over the art. You can see a sense of realism in the form of the woman possibly posing like that in real life while being sketched around to create a life like design. Also in the art around the woman waist is a band saying London which gives you more information about the story. The techniques that have been used in this piece includes bright fun colours that have been used as borders to surround the portrait in the middle this is to give this art piece the resemblance of a physical frame. The 3d text is to give it the fun crazy design that Peter blake is known for.

                                                                     Jeff Fisher
Jeff Fisher is an Australian artist who studied Fine art and film at Preston institute of technology in the 1970s. He stayed at London for a while before settling down in France in 1993. The main designs Jeff fisher does is Book designs creating art for Book covers. His main areas that he exhibits his work in is London and Paris. His main in influences and inspirations are Milton Glaser, Paul Rand, Rick Tharp, Saul Bass and Nigel Holmes. Jeff fishers style is very different to that of Peter Blake as there is a much more limited colour palette with some art pieces having barely any colour at all. Also the themes are not based on pop culture at all but rather based on events that have happened in his life or relate to his views. They are often less positive too sometimes giving a moody feel most likely due to the colour scheme used. I like his designs because of how complex they can be and how it leaves you to work out the meaning for yourself.

This art piece is called Jeff's brain and as you can see there is a very small amount of colour used with only 3 colours used white, black and grey. There is big bald writing at the bottom which gives the title of the art piece. You can see a unique design through the merger of different shapes and patterns. The background is very plain so that you do not get distracted and can focus on the main part of the image.

Lou Beach

Lou Beach is a American illustrator who spent much of his youth in New York. He spent much of his time riding bikes and creating snow forts. He was a disappointment to his teachers in school often slacking in class and not realising his full potential. Along with a hippie couple he fled to California where he worked in a book store as a clerk. It was through this placement that he met the surrealists who gave him opportunities to go to galleries, museums and scouring art books. In the end he finally began to create art of his own. He has since made art for records, books and newspapers/magazines. His main inspirations are Popular culture and experiences in his life. His professional influences are his own family he has a family of fellow artists known as the Lou beaches. His style of work is collages and is heralded as one of the greatest collage makers of all time. He uses collages to essentially create different spins on well known images and art work as well as creating his own unique works. He doesn't do much to change the colours keeping them plain or natural and adding layers over the images to add something crazy and unique. I like his work a lot simply because its something different and very simple.

I like this image because it is a weird spin on a photograph of a man from older times. The eyes have essentially been duplicated and covered around his head and beard. The colour is completely natural with the eyes being the only editing keeping it nice and simple.

viral marketing campaign task 1

task 1:
Tron legacies viral marketing campaign involved multiple forms of digital promotions. During the campaign the production company released many trailers to showcase the film and add hype to the movie. Trailers are important as it gives viewers a small preview of what to expect in the movie it also helps to give viewers of the trailer a decision on whether the movie is worth watching or not which the trailers here does a very effective job of. They heavily promoted in there trailers that Tron Legacy will be able to be viewed in IMAX. Tron Legacy was also promoted on twitter and Facebook via tweets from distribution companies, production companies and actors themselves. Also pop up adds on websites and Facebook also helped to promote the movie Facebook also had Facebook pages promote the movie allowing fans to follow production. This is effective as it gives fans and viewers a chance to voice there opinions and connect with the production of the film during filming. Thanks to films being promoted on social media it has allowed for the films to go through slight changes due to unhappy fans being able to voice there opinion. As well as digital communications Tron Legacy also created a real life arcade just like seen in the movie this has been heralded as one of the greatest viral marketing stunts ever and managed to attract a lot of attention for the movie. Cross media convergence has been a important part of the viral marketing campaign for Tron Legacy allowing them to use a mix of different ways to promote there movie trailers, games, special programmes, posters and stunts all to get people excited for its release.

Kate Moross inspired design level 3

This is my Kate Moross inspired graphics design

Syrian boy washed up on beach

waterfall

I love this image because waterfalls are something that has always been able to keep me calm i feel at one when i am in the water and a waterfall their is something that is beautiful and sacred. The subjective meaning to it is that it is basically saying there are parts of the world that are sacred away from the stresses and troubles of the rest of the world. The lighting of this image is perfectly balanced it is lovely and bright and giving a warm and calming feel. The way the camera is placed allows the image to show not just the waterfall and the water below it but all the plant life and rockery surrounding it. It is very powerful because it strikes something into your heart and gives you that special feeling that everything will be ok.

kate moross research level 3 journalism

                                                                      Kate Moross

Kate Moross is an English graphical designer, illustrator and art director who is mainly based in London. Moross studied at South Hampstead high school, Wimbledon school of art and achieved a ba at the Camberwell school of art. Not much else is known about her personal life as she has kept private but a lot is known about her working life.

Her designs are recognised all over the country working for big companies like cadburys and ford to promote there main products at the time. She has also worked for social media companies such as Skype and newspapers like the guardian. Her art style is also shown in her clothing and hair styles which is typically brash unique and a explosion of colour.

My favourite image that she has done is the 4th image on the list that i have put on this blog. I really love the way that the colours have all been used to make this image standout. The different kinds of fonts for the words are all really cool looking and if you have a good eye you could notice the way the style changes depending on the word. For example dancing is swirly and shaky to match the quick movements that dancing requires. Also the text style stands out as it is usually bold, big and colourful so that it can really catch the eye of people who see and add a sense of positivity.

To do this great work of art takes a lot of time and effort. To start with she hand draws the entire image in order to get a idea of what she wants the final image to be. Once she has made her decision she scans the image into photoshop in order to point out some issues and make the necessary adjustments. Finally Kate uses illustrator to add colour to it and give it that well known Kate Moss style touch.

The images below are more examples of Kate Moross work the bottom picture is the one that i have chosen as my favourite image that i have seen her do.

"You have the same amount of hours in a day Beyonce"  quote by kate Moross

Avatar Sam

This is me turned into a avatar on photoshop as you can see i am still currently getting used to the photoshop software but i am definitely improving quickly in terms of using it and getting a good idea of what i need to do when using photoshop in tasks.

All these newspaper brands use twitter to further there brand because it allows them to stick with the modern times as they realise less and less people are buying newspapers these days so the best way to get people tom check out the news stories is by linking there website on twitter.

Task 3 news websites

1. Daily Mail: The Daily Mail website contains news stories of multiple different topics. There is political news stories, entertainment, sport, food, motoring and many more. The majority of the articles are serious headlines reporting over major incidents around the world or news stories that may seem positive but include a dark tone. They also cover a lot of fashion and celebrity news giving news on what clothes they are wearing and what they are up to. In terms of the way the website is laid out you have the traditional daily mail logo at the top but the rest of the website feels like a proper website with loads of different articles spread along the middle of the site. On the side of the website their is a section that has articles for celebrity, fashion and news stories. Just below the logo is a links block that you can click to choose what news topic you want. The websites colours is white, black and blue the background is dominated by white to represent the seriousness of the companies typical news story the blue represents the links you click to the articles and the black is the colour of the text. The titles are all big and bold while the text is small and lower case. The articles all mostly have images above them that are actually different to the ones you would see on the news paper as it is their way of separating the 2. The links the website uses will take you to the various different topics and the news stories themselves. The website is promoted mainly on television as whenever their is a newspaper ad from the daily mail they will always end with visit mail online, the other main way is through social media mostly from twitter through each tweet they leave a link that will take you to the mail online website. The website often promotes gifts and special endorsements that you can only get by buying the newspaper and taking the vouchers from it. Also there is some articles that will say at the end to find out more buy the newspaper.

The Guardian: The guardian is a website that just like the Daily Mail contains many news stories of many different topics. All the typical topics are covered politics, sport, food, motoring and breaking news. The majority of the news stories are serious and told in a formal manner but there are some articles that are written in a way that feels like they are talking directly to the reader. The most popular content on the website is opinion articles with celebrities and journalists giving there opinion on the latest news stories whether its politics or sports. The website for the most part is laid out in a traditional format for a newspaper website with there being a advert at the top of the paper and then a bar below the advert giving you a selection of topics to choose from. On the right hand side of the website is the Guardian logo. On the left hand side there is the weather report for the current day and just above various options for those who have a guardian account. The news stories are all laid out in blocks. The news story blocks have been broken down into multiple different sections including the opinion section, Headlines section, sport, around the uk and around the world. The main colour scheme for the website is blue and white with the overall colour being blue and the background white. The text colour is blue and black giving a overall formal feel. The website is promoted through television and online to attract audiences and potential new regulars. The website often promotes gifts and special offers if you sign up on there website and also for getting there newspaper. They regularly use twitter to promote the guardian.

The new York Times: The New York Times website is the most unique out of the 3 newspaper websites for a variety of reasons. Just like the other 2 websites the lay out is similar in that the newspaper name is at the top and there is a bar below with all the different topics covered. The most recent news stories are all shown available below as well just like the other papers. What stands this apart from the other 2 is first of all the amount of adverts used there is many more adverts popping up on the website than there is the other 2 there is 2 adverts either side of the top and then there is more adverts as you scroll down the website. Also the colour scheme is completely black and white to give a similar feel to that of the official newspaper they sell. To bring even further similarities to there paper they even have laid out the news stories and the shape of the articles blocks to fit that of how there newspaper is laid out. Another unique area is the way certain areas are worded they are worded in a informal way with slang used throughout to give a more casual and relaxed feeling. There is a section called NY times video that allows you to watch there video of the day which could be a interview or news story also there is inside NY times which covers books, opinion and a Sunday book review. The website is promoted heavily on twitter and various other websites online as well as news shows like the BBC news. There doesn't seem to be too many benefits to buying the paper as the new York times these days makes there best business digitally on there website.
